From the Journal of a Medical Intuitive

Semir's Change of Heart - A Golden Opportunity
or How to Heal a Heart - Literarily

I met Semir Mehmedovich several years ago. An information technology consultant at a major hospital in Los Angeles, he is a middle-aged intellectual, well read, well traveled and interested in a great variety of topics. He is charming, well liked by his large circle of friends, often the life of the party. But Semir was not feeling well for a very long time.

A few weeks later, Semir attended one of my lectures and scheduled a personal medical intuitive consultation with me. The reading delved into many areas, including his health. It revealed a heart chakra (major energy center, part of the energetic anatomy) that I perceived clairvoyantly as "shredded to pieces." Looking deeper into the physical structure of the heart, I perceived anatomical, as well as functional problems.

He told me that he was born with a hole - a shunt, a congenital defect - in his heart that gave him great difficulties. Physical exertion would give him palpitations, breathing problems, and accelerate his heartbeat to 250 times per minute, and lately these symptoms would appear even during normal everyday activities. He would have to lay down and rest until it passed.

His cardiologists* recommended surgery to close the hole and relieve his symptoms. Surgery was scheduled in one month. Since research indicated that if a person prepared energetically before an operation, the procedure may go smoother, with fewer complications and accelerated healing, I suggested a couple of preparatory energy sessions. But Semir never came.

That very afternoon I met with Dr. Roger Hirsh **, in Beverly Hills, to discuss renting office space from him. We had a fascinating conversation that lasted for hours. Roger was in his early fifties, with knowledge, skills, and clinical experience spanning three continents. He asked me about my life, education, experiences, and what I do as a medical intuitive.

Roger was unfamiliar with the concept of medical intuition, but understood energy medicine through the practice of acupuncture. He said that many times, while working closely on a patient he spontaneously received intuitive information about the person, even if he was not purposefully seeking it.

He asked me about my clientele and what kinds of problems they had. I told Roger that they came from all walks of life, with a variety of problems - for example, the man I'd seen just before our meeting, with a congenital heart defect.

"And what did you do? " Roger asked.

"I told him to come for energetic preparation before the surgery to help the process of recovery" I replied.

"I think that you are irresponsible!" Roger exclaimed suddenly with an elevated tone of voice.

"Why? " I was in shock. As a Virgo, I am both meticulous and conscientious.

"What could have I done - taken a needle and thread and sewed the hole in his heart, on the spot, right then and there?" I responded indignantly.

Roger went silent for a while, thinking deeply. "I know," he said " you could have put an energetic plug in the hole."

I was surprised. How did he come up with this idea? It had never crossed my mind, although it sounded completely logical. I remained puzzled by how he got this sudden, intuitive insight and determined to research it.

That evening when I returned home, Roger's words haunted me. As everyone slept, I sat in the dark, in an armchair in my living room, thinking…an energy plug....the hole in Semir's heart....Roger's words.

I invoked Master Jesus, the healer of all healers, for help. I held a strong intention in my heart to help, to figure out what could be done. I imagined Semir’s physical heart in my lap - having gone to medical school helped. I looked at the large blood vessels, the chambers of the heart, red and shiny.

I imagined high-intensity, brilliant golden light from the Source entering via two beams into the upper chambers, through the large blood vessels, down into the lower chambers, then arching from both sides toward the septum and entering the hole forming a golden energy plug. I was in awe and all my cells vibrated with excitement, my attention focused completely. Everything glowed with golden light.

I prayed to Jesus, asking, “How can we make this plug stay in place?” Internally, I heard a male voice of pleasant timbre specify " Two energy plaques!" Instantly, two round, flat energetic structures made of golden light appeared, gluing themselves on each side of the hole, holding in the energy plug in optimal position. It was a perfect fit.

Amazed, I cried to the Master: “Please, let it stay in place like this until he has the surgery done!” The voice replied: "Why not entertain the possibility that surgery may not be necessary?" My mind apparently did not register that as a possibility.

I remained in a heightened state of being, of intense awe, awareness, and emotion never experienced before. I was filled with a strong inner, grateful knowing that it was done! In the dark, Semir's heart was glowing, gold perfection.

Several weeks later, Dr. Amneris, Semir's wife, announced that he felt better, did not have problems anymore, and subsequent medical tests showed the hole no longer existed. When I heard that, my heart pounded with waves of energy, as I remembered the Master's voice "Surgery may not be necessary."

After one more consult, a senior cardiologist declared “these kind of things don't happen.” An operating room was already reserved. They would check Semir's heart on the spot to decide whether surgery was still necessary. Fortunately, this was not open-heart surgery, but an endoscopic procedure. They dutifully  probed inside Semir’s heart, found no hole, and sent him home, the cardiologists still incredulous.

I wondered how would I tell Semir and his wife, both born as Muslims, that Jesus guided the energetic "surgery". But they are intelligent and worldly people, so I proceeded. They were surprised, yet they sensed that something miraculous had happened when he suddenly felt better.

Semir has been well ever since, active, exercising on his treadmill and Bowflex, hiking, and bicycling. He told his story many times to friends, relatives and people attending my lectures. He wants people to know that anything is possible and that miracles do happen.

What happened to Semir was not only a cure of his physical heart condition, but also a healing at all the levels of his being. Observed clairvoyantly, his energy configuration was optimized in general. He feels closer to God, happy and peaceful. He became very interested in learning energy medicine and his ability to move energy developed. He feels that his mission is to awaken people and to expand the limits of their reality introducing them to new paradigms such as energy healing, miracles and transformation.

* This case was medically documented before and after the energetic healing at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

** Regrettably, Dr. Roger Hirsh passed away in 2006 from a sudden illness. He will be gratefully remembered for teaching me that anything is possible.

Medical Intuition and Energy Medicine

From Ancient Spiritual Traditions to Modern Scientific Breakthroughs

Medical Intuition and Energy Medicine are emergent disciplines derived from ancient spiritual traditions. Today, these subjects are being rediscovered and researched using western scientific methodology.

Intuition is a sixth sense, an innate ability we all posses but have been discouraged from using. We often ignore, dismiss or rationalize intuition and rely on the rational mind. There are more ways of knowing beyond our five physical senses and our technology. The mysteries of existence, consciousness, and the Universe are immense. The more we know, the more there is to know.

Intuition is not a gift, but a skill. Just like everybody can learn how to play the piano or play tennis up to a certain level, everybody can learn to use intuition. Training, study, practice, innate ability and talent create a good medical intuitive, just like they create a concert pianist or a tennis champion.

Intuition includes clairvoyance (seeing, without the physical eyes), clairaudience (hearing, without the physical ears), clairsentience (kinesthesia, feeling with the body), and claircognizance (direct knowing, not based on the logical mind.) All forms provide access to the non-physical worlds and non-physical guidance.

When we discover the real causes of the illness using intuition, we can cultivate health and well-being. We habitually expend more time and energy fulfilling the ego’s (the "image" created about us) agenda while the incarnational purpose of the soul is ignored. This leads to imbalances in the energetic system which may eventually manifest as physical or mental illness, emotional disharmony, difficult relationships or radical disconnection from the self, others, the Earth and the Universe.

In addition to assessing the Human Energy System (chakras, aura), organs and systems, the medical intuitive observes the mental, emotional, and spiritual origins of a medical condition. Before anything manifests in physical reality, it first appears as an energetic template. Eliminating the energetic root of illness (through energy work, life-style changes, and spiritual transformation) promotes healing and may prevent further reoccurrences or complications. If a physical condition has already manifested, working at an energetic level (integrated with conventional medical care) promotes healing at many levels of being and is potentially curative and transformative.

Energy Medicine incorporates a variety of techniques from around the world, but the principles are the same. First the chakras, aura, organs and systems are cleansed through extraction of negative energies. Next, an "energy make-over" achieved by restructuring and recharging creates a new configuration for optimal flow of Life Force (called "chi","ki," "chai" or "prana" in various traditions).

Medical intuitive and energetic medicine techniques are non-local. They can be used with equal accuracy and effectiveness in person or long-distance - geographical location is unimportant. I need only the first name of a person to instantly access their energy system, even if they are located on the other side of the world.

Exercise care when selecting a medical intuitive or energy healer. People often take more time choosing a hairdresser than choosing a doctor, surgeon, energy healer or massage therapist - all of whom can influence us profoundly on an energetic level. There are many popular misconceptions about working with intuition and energies. Training, study, practice, ethics and purity of intention are attributes to look for in a medical intuitive or energy healer.

In the past, the training of clairvoyants and healers was initiatory, achieved through oral transmission from a master to a student, who was personally selected, tested for aptitude and ethical conduct, and trained intensively for several years. Currently, the primary criterion for such training is the ability to write a check, so the level of students' aptitude, motivation, and intention greatly varies.

Many people think that after a weekend course they are now shamans, mediums, healers, channels, or intuitives. There is a misconception that energies are self-adjusting, that they do not require any technique and that you cannot do any harm by working with them. Some people know just enough to be dangerous. As the business of spirituality grows, the quality of the teachers and training methods need to be carefully examined before investing time and money. Ultimately, a good teacher is only a guide, directing us to the answers inside ourselves. Nobody should give their power away to teachers or gurus.

Developing and applying energy management skills is vitally important for health maintenance, harmonious relationships, spiritual development, personal transformation and ultimately world peace and a new paradigm. Staying awake, self-observant, in the present moment, and accepting radical responsibility for all that we create in our lives is the sign of an evolving human, capable of serving humanity.

We are energy-consciousness! Modern physics confirms what the spiritual traditions of the world told us for millennia. We are all One, part of the Unified Field of Consciousness which quantum physics now calls God. As we heal individually, we collectively raise the vibration of the Unified Field for the benefit of all humanity.

Transforming Homo Sapiens into Homo Luminosus,
our key to Planetary Evolution

There is a vast difference between acquiring facts from books or lectures and deriving your own conclusions from direct personal experience. We know very few things in life from direct experience; the formal education process consists primarily of memorizing facts. We are indoctrinated with a worldview consisting of generally accepted concepts from the disciplines of social sciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. If we had a religious upbringing, we learned a cosmology particular to our faith, which dictated our relationship to deity, creation, and unseen realms.

Yet even “consensus reality” is not quite as objective as we might wish to believe. We know that history differs according to who wrote the accounts, that regimes in power slant historical facts to their advantage, and that today’s media “spin-doctors” distort news to present the particular viewpoints and advance the specific agendas of advertising sponsors and government agencies. The world of “facts” continues to shift and expand with every new discovery. Ideas once held as immutable, officially promulgated truths change dramatically. In the sciences, we are now told that things are completely different than what we formerly thought they were only 20 years ago. The mysteries of the Universe are vast - the more we learn, the more we realize how very little we know - hopefully, at once a humbling experience and an invitation to expand the frontiers of human knowledge in a spirit of “reverent curiosity” (Carolyn Casey).

During 30 years of personal exploration and study of spirituality and metaphysical subjects, reading many books and attending seminars with teachers from various traditions, I took a scientific approach of detached, neutral inquiry. I resolved to neither automatically accept nor reject what I was being told; through personal experience, I would draw my own conclusions. I was told to leave several metaphysical groups of an initiatic character, perhaps because I asked too many questions and refused to give away my power to teachers who wanted authority over the lives of their students.

The business of spirituality is growing, and we must be careful not only how we spend our money and time, but most importantly, not to surrender our sovereignty to anyone. We live in an era of unprecedented access to information through the Internet and mass media. Esoteric teachings once reserved for secret societies are publicly available on web sites, in mass-market paperbacks and weekend workshops. In the past, clairvoyants and healers were selected by their masters and trained through oral transmission, energetic induction and initiatory trials. Today, the only criterion for such training is writing a check. Some people mistakenly believe that after a weekend course, they are now shamans, mediums, healers, channels, or intuitives. Popular misconceptions abound: energies are self-adjusting, they do not require any technique, and you cannot do any harm by working with them. Some people know just enough to be dangerous!

Unfortunately, many New Age teachers present derivative work, regurgitating information developed by others, rather than presenting new information based on direct personal experience. With so much information and such limited time, we cannot possibly study everything. Ask yourself these questions and "read" the author/teacher’s energetic system to obtain this information, before committing yourself to further study:

What is the level of spiritual development of the author or teacher?

What is their motivation? What core values are promoted in their work?

Do they have direct knowledge? Is the information truly new, useful and derived from higher sources of inspiration, or is just an intellectual exercise generated purely for commercial gain?

I've heard and read about the energetic system of the human body - ancient traditions from around the world described this knowledge - but I know that the energetic system exists, because I have seen it.

According to the science of physics, we are composed of energy to the level of subatomic particles. This information-dense energy is more appropriately termed “energy-consciousness” or “energy-intelligence.” All the structures of our energetic system and physiology carry information that can either impair our health, happiness, relationships, conscious behavior, and pursuit of the will of the soul and the purpose of incarnation, or catalyze developmental cycles of healing and personal transformation.

Since I became clairvoyant, nobody can tell me that chakras do not exist, because I can "see" them for myself. They’ve been described a certain way in books, according to the magical number 7: 7 chakras, corresponding to 7 tones in the musical scale, 7 colors in the white light spectrum, and 7 vowels. While these descriptions are poetic, they are not always accurate. People who insist that chakras appear a certain way probably never saw one!

I have observed that the chakras contain a tremendous amount of information, such as:

7th and 6th: level of spiritual development, intelligence and intuition, beliefs, attitudes,
5th: communication and self-expression, personal truth, alignment of personal will with God's will,
4th: longing of the soul, giving and receiving love, compassion and appreciation, level of openness of heart,
3rd: concept of self, level of courage, work load, money, level of vitality, level of stress and causes of stress
2nd: level of creativity, quality of emotions, relationship with self, significant other, family, friends, coworkers, level of belonging
1st: grounding, overall vitality

Additional information can also be discerned clairvoyantly, such as: the sense of purpose of incarnation, how much time/energy is spent in the pursuit of ego agenda versus the agenda of the soul, information from past lives, karmic issues, thought forms, traumas, and childhood/family of origin dynamics.

The organs and systems also contain extensive information. Various tissues and organs have a predilection for storing particular kinds of emotions, traumas or stresses. For example, in the lungs we always find sadness, grief and regret; in the gall bladder we find anger and rage, etc. Based on these changes in energy and the aspect of the organs one can discern physical conditions and their causative mental, emotional, relational and spiritual issues. The real reasons for illnesses become apparent: they are related to emotions, traumas and incidents in the current incarnation, or even from past lives. Scientists' opinion is that many human illnesses are psychosomatic in origin (Greek; psyche = soul; soma = body). In the western sciences of psychology and psychiatry, the soul is never addressed - only the mind and mental health. This is changing with the emergence of new disciplines, such as spiritual psychology and energetic medicine.

At the level of the DNA, we carry not only the genetic characteristic of our ancestors, such as how tall we will grow, eye color and skin tone. We also carry our ancestor’s predispositions to illness, beliefs and attitudes, and patterns of reaction and adaptation to certain stimuli and life situations, all derived from their own experiences, programming, beliefs and attitudes. All these are transmitted through the DNA in a “vibratory” way, creating changes in the DNA (mutations) that may manifest for generations. It is possible that we carry information from 7 preceding generations and that this influences our lives significantly. Recent DNA studies have demonstrated that DNA interacts with the environment, can transmit and receive information even if it is outside of the person's body, and can be changed through the power of a beam of light, sound, or the spoken word. DNA contains great mysteries yet to be discovered, researched and understood.

The 7 layers of the aura, the energy field that surrounds our body, contain more information. The aura is an energetic “ecosystem,” populated by spirits of dead ancestors, entities (sometimes negative opportunistic evil ones; sometimes positive divine, angelic; sometimes extraterrestrial in origin) past life information, contracts and agreements with other souls, "pictures" activated through triggers and associations created by memories of similar events in current life or from past lives, etc.

Moreover, our minds are untrained. In our system of schooling we are given extensive memorizations, but nobody teaches us how to monitor the mind. An undisciplined mind constantly creates internal “movies,” fabricating scenarios with frightening outcomes that will likely never happen. Unfortunately, these negative mental constructs generate cascades of biochemical reactions that produce real physical reactions, because our bodies understand and internalize everything literally.

We are programmed by family, schooling and society to reject our intuition (our innate ability to know) and rely instead on the rational mind, which is bombarded by information from modern daily life. We go though life on automatic pilot, reactively, living the in the past or in the future but not in the now, unaware of the present moment - Asleep. We are under the impression that others have the answers for us; we look for solutions outside but never inside. We regard the body as a machine and mistakenly identify ourselves as the body - although it is a marvelous, intelligent organism with a tremendous innate self-healing ability - rather than the soul that came here to experience embodiment on Earth.

We lack energy management skills and energy hygiene skills. We do not know how to manage our energies and protect ourselves from others' energies. We do not know how to live: how to be happy, how to master our inner states of being, how to relate with others, how to be spouses and how to be parents. We have higher education to advance our careers, yet no formal training in essential life mastery skills. We devote most of our time and energy to advancing the ego’s agenda, diverting our energy to the image that we created about ourselves, who we think that we are, and who we want other people to think that we are.

How then can we free ourselves to pursue the true Will of the Soul, our purpose for incarnation?

Human transformation can be achieved only at the energetic-consciousness level, through diligent work, formation of new habits, and developing new energy awareness and management skills. Our goals are:

- To cleanse ourselves as much as possible, to remove old energetic information from all levels of the chakras, organs and system; and to evict entities from all the levels of the aura
- to properly recharge all the structures with fresh universal energy ( chi, ki, prana, chai, or life force, as it is referred to in different traditions)
- to consciously monitor and maintain our energetic system, which is not static but dynamic and continuously affected by background electromagnetic pollution (cell phones, computers, etc.) and other peoples' energies (directly or from a distance)
- to constantly stay awake, alert and live in the moment.

In one lifetime we may be unable to completely cleanse and remove everything. Fortunately, we do not need 100% cleansing to manifest significant change in our lives and level of consciousness. We need to minimally achieve “seniority”, to become a policy-maker who can vote and veto. When we eliminate as much old energy as possible and own at least 51% of our energetic space, we become "majority share holders” who can make decisions and live life consciously.

Proper cleansing, restructuring, and charging of the chakras, organs, systems and aura are the steps through which we can achieve an Energy Makeover. Once this is accomplished, the healing process unfolds organically. The individual will increasingly feel physically strong, mentally clear, and emotionally even, at ease relating to people and connected with the Self, the Earth, God, and the Universe.

Clairvoyantly, when the chakras and the aura are energized and functioning optimally, they look luminous, like the golden light of a candle flame. (Conversely, darkened or black chakras indicate low energy, contamination or negative information, or absence of energy.) A person with an optimized (cleansed and charged) energy system looks luminous, like a human made of light, thus "homo luminosus" (Latin; luminosus = luminous). The transformation of the Homo Sapiens into Homo Luminosus is key to the transformation of the Planet.

Homo Luminosus factors energy-consciousness into the equation. He is aware, awake and able to manage his own energies. He respects and connects with all life forms as a conservator of Planet Earth, and is in awe and in love with all Creation. He can access both inner knowing and higher forms of inspiration from other realms, and communicate fluently with other dimensions and beings. He is constantly learning, evolving and co-creating, joining the advanced brotherhood of the Cosmos, for the highest good of all.

Prayer: Intentionally Creating an Energetic Event on the Vertical

"Prayer is not an act of worship merely, the bending of the knee on set occasions, and offering petitions in need. It is an attitude of soul, opening the life on the Godward side, and keeping free communication with the world of spirit."
Hugh Black

Clairvoyant observation of an individual's crown chakra reveals the extent to which they connect energetically with Universe/God, the quality of that connection, the way they understand it and how they feel about it. Many of my clients want to accomplish connection with the Universe/God and ask me for instruction in the practice of prayer. Some even request "teach me how to pray fast " perhaps reflecting our contemporary culture of fast food, fast cars, and now, fast prayer!

Numerous scientific studies of prayer have been conducted in the USA . Some were funded by the National Institute of Health. Most of these studies investigated the role and effects of prayer on the distance healing process in humans.

The majority of these studies indicate that prayer works. People who were prayed for - without their knowledge - healed faster, stayed fewer days in the hospital, required less medication and had fewer complications. Conversely, some studies indicated that prayer does not work, and in some cases may be detrimental to the prayer recipients.

In some of the successful cases, the people who prayed were practitioners of various religious traditions who were trained in prayer, meditation, or directing healing energy from a distance. These were people who knew how to deliberately create an energetic event through prayer.

In the unsuccessful cases, lists of patient names were distributed to random prayer groups at churches throughout the country. It was observed that patients who were informed that people would pray for them did the worst and had more complications. Were they scared into thinking that their condition was more severe than it actually was, since random people had been recruited to pray for them?

To clarify, we must ask: who prayed, how did they pray, what did they say, for how long did they pray, did they know how to produce an energetic event through prayer, and what is prayer.

While most of us have been trained to pray in our religious upbringing, prayer is very misunderstood. Many religious institutions and their representatives establish themselves as formal intermediaries. We are taught that they know how to pray on our behalf and that we need their intervention, when in truth we all have a direct, personal connection with the Divine.

All major religions are energy-based; prayers, mantras, or chants are designed so that when they are said mindfully, pondering the deep meaning of every word, with intention, emotion and faith, they have the ability to open the energetic channels. For example, in Christianity, the Lord's Prayer opens up all the chakras. When clairvoyantly observed, a person praying radiates energy powerfully from the crown chakra into the universe.

In my modest understanding, as the mysteries are great and the more we know the more we realize how very little we know, prayer is the conscious and deliberate creation of an energetic event on the vertical. The purpose of prayer is to personally, directly, and vertically connect with the Universe/God.

The purpose of meditation is different. It allows the gaps between thoughts to become longer and longer so that one experiences the silence of the mind and the peace in those gaps. It is not excluded that during those moments of silence one can connect spontaneously with the Universe, but this is not the goal of meditation.

It is important to set time aside for morning and evening prayer, allowing time for the connection to unfold. It is a visit with God. When we invite a guest in our home, we make special preparations. We change into a nice outfit, serve refreshments, and make time for uninterrupted conversation. Why would we offer God less hospitality than the average guest?

Raising a child as a working mother, I was concerned with the amount of time I had for my child. At that time, I was told that the quantity of time is not important, but the quality of that time. In order to have moments of true connection with a child, or any other human being, we need to allow ample quantity of time for those moments of true beauty and memorable heart connection to arise spontaneously. One can't say, "Come here dear, mommy will now provide you 5 minutes of regimented quality time." By the same token, if we allow ample quantity of time, but we are not fully present in the moment with our child, we still do not accomplish the connection. It's the same with prayer - it can't be rushed.

Here are a few useful techniques to apply when praying. Remember: intention, emotion and faith move energy.

Invocation: call the beings of the highest intention and purity, those that you resonate the most with to be present with you and help you in the process of your prayer. You have friends in high places, and you don't want "just anybody" showing up randomly!
Intention: state that the intention of the prayer is to connect with God/Universe
Emotion: experience a strong, intense feeling, a sincere, heartfelt, desire to connect with God/Universe
Faith: trust that this connection will happen, even if you do not know, from a causal point of view, the exact mechanism by which it will happen.
Posture: while praying, either sit or stand. When sitting, do not cross arms or legs - this obstructs the flow of energy.

You can recite prayers or intone chants according to your faith, or that of a religious tradition that you resonate most with. Being in the moment and pondering the deep meaning of every word is key. When prayer is said mindfully, clairvoyant observation reveals energy streaming from the crown of the head all the away into the Universe. When someone asks for help, one sees life force in the form of golden light coming from the universe entering their crown chakra and their body. The problem is that most people say the prayers like an automatic recitation, while the heart and mind are somewhere else, so no energetic event is accomplished.

Asking for help is most important and regrettably under-utilized. In this 3-dimensional reality we have been given the freedom to choose between receiving help and not receiving help. Prayer need not be reserved for emergencies. One can - and should - request clarity, insight, and assistance with day-to-day living. We can even ask to be accompanied by a "divine entourage" in our daily travels. While asking this, many have felt the presence of beneficent beings from other dimensions/realms.

Yet prayer requires us to embrace a mystical paradox. Even as we ask, we must also surrender to God (not like a prisoner of war, or a slave - wise and strong people surrender to God - but as the lover yields to the Beloved) trusting that God truly knows our highest good. We speculate about the mechanics of fulfillment, fretting over the intermediary sequence of events that must occur in orderly fashion to produce the desired result. Better we consider, "there is no order of difficulty in miracles." We may even inadvertently overlook the answer to our prayers, simply because they showed up in unexpected packaging. Surrender takes the form of releasing our "need to know how".

When we pray, we often present God a wish list of things we want or outcomes we desire, and ask God to make it so. What if it's not for the highest good? Unanswered prayers can be blessings in disguise - a desired outcome may not always be an optimal outcome. Humans enjoy a larger perspective in retrospect, reviewing events of years past and finally understanding things differently. We declare, "thank God I didn't get that job," or "thank God I didn't marry that person," although we may have been disappointed at the time.

Sometimes spiritual progress comes through crisis, which presents opportunity for transformation and dismantling the ego. This is a hidden blessing that may not be immediately apparent. Accepting that God ultimately holds the larger perspective challenges us to live comfortably with the unknown, paradoxically at the very moments when relinquishing perceived control of our lives is most frightening. By praying, "whatever it is for my highest good and the highest good of all concerned, let it be done," we intentionally align our will with God's will. This prepares us to receive extraordinary graces specially ordained for us, gifts we do not even anticipate receiving, and which we were not wise enough to request for ourselves.

Praying in supplication, labeling ourselves as weak, unworthy, or sinners, is not effective, despite what we may have been taught. When we pray for something, we need to become what we are praying for in that moment. Native American medicine men were observed invoking rain. In the sacred circle, with eyes closed, heads and hands held skyward, they were silent. Scientists asked what happened in that moment. Were they calling for rain? They explained," We never pray for rain, we pray rain." They visualized themselves already powerfully drenched with rainwater, the fields moist, the crops growing, acknowledging, " It is done, Thank You!"

By the same token, when we pray for good health, we must without doubt, analysis, or hesitation powerfully visualize and feel ourselves completely healthy: physically strong, mentally clear, emotionally even-keeled, harmonious in our relations, effective in our daily tasks, with a comfortable feeling of belonging and connection with God/ Universe, the Planet, the Self and all of Creation. Visualize Golden Light (chi, prana, universal Life Force) coursing into the crown chakra like a river, completely filling and illuminating the whole body to awaken, heal, optimize and reprogram us for a new life.

Spiritual Ecology: Practices to HONOR and ENGAGE with the Sacred Matrix of ALL Life

- Operate from this Truth - humans are a co-creative part of a greater planetary ecology - and act accordingly

- environmental activism = consistent daily commitment to small, cumulatively powerful practices of conservation and stewardship; everyone counts and no act is too small; perform with prayerful intent and be a spiritual force for the greater good

- take FES "Gaia Green" formula to nurture your energetic connection to the earth; http://www.fesflowers.com/gaia-green.htm

- plant trees or donate to organizations that plant trees, such as Tree People in Los Angeles

- get a community garden plot and grow flowers, fruit and vegetables

- volunteer with/donate to eco-preservation groups like Sierra Club or Greenpeace

- choose live plants over cut flowers; after enjoying your plant indoors, give it a real life by transplanting it in an outdoor garden

- it's "Earth" , not "dirt" - never discard soil and potting mix in the trash - the formation of topsoil takes 200 years - work it back into your lawn or flower garden

- pick up litter wherever and whenever you see it: beaches, parks, public areas - don't wait for "someone else" to do it
